GPS Module with GPS Evaluation Board problem

Guys i need help here.

I have connected my EB-85A module to the gps eval board. Used a usb connector to connect the board to my pc.

In the cytron website downloaded the MINIGPS and GPS Trace softwares to test the output of the GPS. But.. I am getting nothing..

Have been trying for 2 days already.

Now i am wondering, am i facing problems with my hardware.. like either my module of my eval board? ..

did you select "USB" at the interface selector switch?

I did.. Wat about the int and ext. that one i tried both.. DIDnt work as well..

The Int/Ext switch is for you to select whether you wan to use the RS232/USB or the TTL level UART to connect to your GPS module.


If your connection is correct, you should see there is a new virtual COM port once you plug in the USB to your PC. In your GPS Trace or MiniGPS, you should select that particular virtual COM port as well. If this still doesnt work, try to change the baud rate and see...

Well mine is comport3. Anyway, i am not getting anything from the hyperlink nor am i getting any output from the MINIGPS after changing the baudrate..

Sry for the trouble. But is there any way that i can check if its my module or my board problem?

From your description, seems like you are using GPS module together with the GPS evaluation board right? Is there any custom circuit in your system? If no, I think the best way is to send back both item to Cytron so that the engineer can check it out.
