Interfacing GPS to PC

Postby Jiewy » Mon Apr 05, 2010 1:38 am

I tried interfacing the GPS eval board to the PC using the RS232.
And then i used the hyperlink to get the output.
I played around with the baud rate and the thing i got closest to the NMEA output is when it is 38400 but still there are still unreadable characters.
I gave the GPS board 6 V.

When i used the connect the GPS eval board to the PC using the USB connection, i got a clear output from the hyperlink. I measured the voltage of the USB and it is only 5.13V.

Does the difference of voltage affect the outcome of the hyperlink?

Where did you connect the 6V to? Can you check the voltage at Vcc point of your GPS module connector instead of the output voltage of USB

Yes, USB voltage output is around that. It should not affect the output, but you need to ensure the input voltage is high enough for GPS module to operate.
