Not really understand the question, help me.

You are going to send data using XBee and now become wired connection, the wired connection mean from PC to PIC? Or the XBee?

OK, got it now.

No MAX232 is needed because XBee is not using RS232 voltage level. Instead you will need to take care the 3.3V voltage level of XBee. XBee is operating and interface in 3.3V while most of PIC operate in 5V. So becareful.....

hi lockman_akim,

Max232 is just a voltage level shifter.
com port of 12V to 5V for PIC.
for Xbee at PC part. if u r using SKXbee from cytron, then it has the USB to serial ic already. else if u r using the com port, its 12V, xbee accept 3.3V level. be careful .

for PIC part if ur PIC is 5V, xbee is 3.3V, need to be careful also.

i have the usb - serial converter..
i want to connect it to the xbee..
but as you all said before, com port is 12V..
how can i drop the voltage without lose the data signal..

can i use voltage divider?
or switching transistor?

well, RS232 is not only 12V, but is actually +12V and -12V.

To save the pain, suggest to use MAX3223 if I am not mistaken. It can support 3.3V to true RS232 level. But it is in surface mount package

Yes, is either using a ready make chip to carter the 3.3V to RS232 level or you get your self a USB to UART, then you can use voltage divider for 5V to 3.3V and 3.3V to 5V should be fine to connect it directly.
