ck88 WROTE:P/S: Does anyone here know what are the 5-pin JP2 connections on the right of SKXBEE board for? Thanks.

That's just a dummy connector that offer support to SKXBee.

Thanks for the reply.

That's not a good news to hear, as implementing sleep mode in Xbees will require the use of Xbee module's PIN 9. So there's no way to connect to PIN 9 if I am using a SKXBEE?

The JP2 doesn't seem like doing anything. I don't see any PCB trace running through it, except for +5V and ground.

Hello guys,

I would like to forward a question and hopefully all of you can enlighten me on this.

Now that SKXBEE does not port out the PIN 9 to any pin headers available on the board, can I just solder or port out myself the PIN 9 from the module itself so that I can implement sleep mode on the Xbee module? (SM = 1 or 2)

Right now, what I've read is that a high to PIN 9 will make Xbee module go to sleep and a low will wake the Xbee module.

Thank you very much.

The pin is connected to FTDI chip, connecting the DTR pin.

well, starter kit is for beginner  So definately some of the features are filtered to make it easy to get started.

You can actually solder the pin out yourself from the XBee module itself and do some interface to it. Easy way is to use transistor to pull low the pin if that pin is internally pullup.

Thank you for the information, shiyan.

shiyan, can u kindly elaborate further on this? I would be grateful :)

Besides, are there any schematic drawing or pin connection clarification provided to enlighten the Xbee module pin connections used by the SKXBEE? Thank you so much guys :)
