1. What is XBee module? Is it ZigBee?
XBee module is an embedded RF modules provide wireless connectivity to end-point devices in a wireless network whereas ZigBee is a wireless technology developed as an open global standard to address the unique needs of low-cost, low-power, wireless sensor networks. The standard takes full advantage of the IEEE 802.15.4 physical radio specification and operates in unlicensed bands worldwide at the following frequencies: 2.400–2.484 GHz, 902-928 MHz and 868.0–868.6 MHz. Now, XBee have series 1 and series 2. Series 1 is not ZIgBee compliant, however, XBee series 2 is ZigBee compliant. So use it wisefully.

2. Can XBee communicate with other ZigBee module?
No, XBee module have several series, series 1 cannot communicate with other ZigBee module. However, XBee series 2 is ZigBee compliant, it can communicate with other ZigBee module in market. In other words, XBee series 1 cannot communicate with XBee series 2.

3. Can XBee communicate with Bluetooth?
No, XBee are not able to communicate with Bluetooth.

4. What is SKXBee?
SKXBee is a Cytron's product designed for the ease of use. XBee module alone is 3.3V powered and the pin is not compatible with standard breadboard and donut board. SKXBee offers 5V power and interface, the UART pin is 5V TTL, the XBee become plug and play in the development. It also come with USB connection to become a XBee dongle and fast verification, also updating parameters with X-CTU via computer.

Method to restore firmware on XBEE using SKXBee Updated, refer to tutorial here: Recovering Your XBee
1) Connect USB cable to SKXBee and to computer.
2) Lauch X-CTU and set t default setting - COMx(normally the biggest number COM), 9600bps, 8data bit, no priority and 1 stop bit
3) Go modem configuration tab, select XB24(for XBEE) and XBP24 (for XBEE-PRO)
4) Select XBEE 802.15.4 for function set and 10CD (or latest) for version
5) Check always update firmware and and show default
6) Press and hold the RESET button on SKXBee
7) Click write on X-CTU window.
8) When action required box come out, release the RESET button
9) The box will disappear and start burning firmware
10) If fail, please try a few time.
