my rfid not work..

RFID reader, Reader/Writer, Tag.....

What freq of RFID you are using? There are plenty of RFID standard out there, 125KHz, 13.++MHz, etc. Common one should be 125KHz. Different freq reader and tag cannot communicate with each other oh.

Hi, we need to verify first whether the RFID reader is powered properly or not. Therefore, your first posting din say anything about the RFID being powered.

Anyway, the basic requirement is the USB port for powering the RFID reader. If it is powered, and there is tag (compatible) in the sensing distance, the buzzer should "beep" once and LED should turn from RED to GREEN.

This will still happen even the serial cable in not connected to the serial port of computer and HyperTerminal is not setup. If that "sound" and "LED" indicator does not work, don bother doing the setting on HyperTerminal and COM port.

The RFID freq that you get is 125KHz, not 13.56MHz. Therefore, you cannot detect it using other standard.

Hi everyone,

It is powered on, USB and RS232 both connected to PC.
After USB is plugged in, it turns red and gives out the first beeping sound.
However the color did not turn green even once when we place the cards near it.
We had the card to touch the reader, lift it a bit at approximately 1.5cm, moved it around, everything

I bought the card together with the reader. Could it be true that they're not for each other? O.O If so, what do you suggest I get next? Below is more about my purchase details:

1) The wrapping says FM1108 IC S50
Resonance Frequency: 13.56MHz
Memory: 8K Bit EEPROM memory
2) The reader has "06-ID" and "8H10D" ticked.

Keep on posting everybody, I'm delighted at all the assistance I'm receiving :) Thank you thank you thank you!

sadip, the 1. code is your RFID card information? It seem to me as it is Mifare card, not passive card which run at 125KHz. Can you capture a picture of the card where we can see the coding? I will check with our store to match it. Are all 3 cards have the same coding?

And the RFID reader is from Cytron too, right? Just to confirm.

yes, they were both from cytron. i'm certain i did not order mifare.
mifare (RFID-TAG-MYF-CA)costs rm5 each and the rfid (RFID-TAG-125-CA) tag costs3 each.
plus my warranty says i got the rm3 ones.
however, let's say that i "did" get the mifare ones by mistake,
what do you suggest i do next?

when i looked at the rfid reader's page (http://cytron.com.my/viewProduct.php?pi ... A4g6USYz8=)
it recommended us to also buy the rm3 rfid tag.
i assumed they're for each other, hence my decision to get them both.

can cytron send me another batch of cards that has been tested and verified
to work with my type of reader? i don't mind paying for a few more cards if it works.
send me an e-mail about this? i'd love to discuss this.
thank you in advance!

as for coding, i havent started any sort of coding work yet.
at the stage i am, i am only trying to get the devices to work.
once i'm sure, only i'd start coding.

thanks again!

Er? What is the warranty say you get the RM3 one mean? Or you mean the invoice stated you are getting the RM3 card?

Anyway, once we have verify that the card sent is wrong, we will replace with the correct one.

Both type of RFID card is working, just different standard and you need different type of RFID reader to read it.

Hi,

Yeap, the invoice said
- RFID Reader RS232 New (Code: RFID-IDR-232N)
- RFID card (Code: RFID-TAG-125-CA)

I saw this in the manual "Now, RFID-IDR-232N is ready to read address of a 125 KHz passive tag" right after the "9600, 8, none, 1" none instruction. But cards are 13.56MHz. Could this be the suspected mismatch?

Thank you!

sadiq, I think our sales team have send the wrong RFID card to you, anyway after verification, we have send the correct RFID card to you.

Hopefully you get it and do share your project with forumers here.

Hi yasotha padmanathan,

I also face the same problem before, cannot display data to hyperterminal via RS232 port. Then I just directly develop the hardware using PIC microcontroller and its working.
