RFID RS232 to PIC18

Postby neohimura » Tue Apr 03, 2012 7:17 pm

Hi, Since this RFID reader is using RS232, do i need a MAX232 chip to communicate with a microprocessor (PIC18F4550)? I saw your example project connection (PR8-B) but i was wondering if i can substitute it with MAX232. Thanx

You can add MAX232 between PIC and RFID Reader. Ex here, RFID Reader.
Schematic on Cytron use different method, since because PIC never send signal to the RFID Reader.

Hi yasotha padmanathan,

You can connect to PIC without cutting the wire, but you need the DB9 connector.
