can help me..
my project thesis is about ladder climbing robot.my robot use 8 servo motor..
1) im confused to use PIC16F877A or PIC16F876 as the brain of the robot becoz my robot only using 8 servo motor n wired remote control.. no sensor or others.. can u explain what is better microcontroller can i use for my robot..?
2) if i use SC16A to control all 8 servo motor..is it possible to PIC16F876? i have no idea to programming it..
3) can sc16A control other cytron servo motor?

1) From memory based, both have same memory. If you have enough I/O, you can use PIC16F876.
2) If use SC16A, you just connect to the UART port (RC6, RC7 and GND).
3) Ofcourse yes.

for my project, if supervisors want me to use family PIC18 than family PIC16..i think my project is enough and useful to use family pic16 ( PIC16F876)
im confused that he want me to explain what is benefit using family PIC16 than PIC18
for my project..
can u helps me to explain to him that my robot is better using family PIC16 rather than fam PIC18 (in technically)

I don't have best answer. PIC16 is cheaper than PIC18 and I take 2 years to explore PIC16.

Basically, PIC18F vs PIC16F
1. 16-bit wide instruction set vs 14-bit, more instruction set in PIC18.
2. More program memory and RAM, can fit more program
3. Faster speed, PIC18F can go up to 48MHz, as PIC16F normal is 20MHz, Enhanced is 32MHz.
4. ...... more

Anyway, the point is why need to use PIC18F where PIC16F can carter for the work? Is not applicable in industry as everyone wanted to save cost! Cost will still be the main reason.

i dont understand actually..for what use fam18 if fam16 is enough and easy to learn..

Unique? How unique would it be? Is not that PIC18F is not used before....

I don see the reason why it cannot, I think Shahrul has answered you in the earlier reply.

SC16A is based on UART interface, any microcontroller that have UART engine can connect to it.

Your supervisor may have other intention with PIC18, he might want to add USB support as well as CAN or I2C or some other things. You should try to approach him more often
