supplying 15V to a 12V DC solenoid valve

Postby jerryjww » Sat Sep 08, 2018 4:37 pm

Hi everyone,
can i power up this solenoid valve( https://www.cytron.io/p-sv-12v-34 ) using 15V power supply? will the additional voltage supply damage the solenoid valve?

reasons of why i want to use 15V instead of 12V:
I only have this 9V Battery Holder ( https://www.cytron.io/c-114-electronic-components/c-124-connectors/c-258-battery-connector/p-cn-ba-9h ) and a 4xAA Battery Holder ( https://www.cytron.io/c-114-electronic-components/c-124-connectors/c-258-battery-connector/p-cn-ba-um3-04-a )
the total voltage that is provided by this two battery holders ,if i connect them in series , would add up to 15V.

I am trying out the solenoid valve before connecting it to my Arduino

Thanks in advance :)

Using normal 9V battery + AA battery on this solenoid will drain the battery pretty fast. Anyway 15V should be fine for the solenoid to operate, but we have never try before.
