have you load the sample program into PIC? Can you also check the connection from LCD to PIC pin according to schematic?

 MPLAB + PICC Lite is not to upload the code into PIC, these 2 software are IDE and Compiler only. You will need to have PIC Programmer to download the hex code into PIC.

If you have black dot on LCD, mostly the LCD is not initiated correctly.

1. It might be the PIC is not running at all, Crystal speed and configuration bit is crucial in this case.
2. Connection from PIC pin to LCD will cause this problem too. Check the connection of each and every pin of LCD to PIC, make sure it does not disconnect or shorted.

Can you explain clearly what do you mean by the sensor circuit can show one of two time? Showing on LCD or ?

You are using the sample source code or?

If the LCD have output, then the program is running on PIC and crystal is working. Maybe just modify the program to have some delay before initiate the LCD, because some LCD need longer time to start up.

ok i will try out to put delay before initiate the lcd....

if the gas sensor TGS2600 is spoiled will the lcd display any output ??

It should not affect the LCD. Anyway you can always put a while loop after 1st message inorder to check the functionality of LCD.
