I had tried the PR11 with 16F876 chip but LCD only dark on upper line and no any data show?( pic show).....

Programming:
i use PICkit software and directly import the PR11.hex file to PIC . is it can do like tat?
is it the 16f876 chip place like the pic when connected to programmer (Pic show)

after i load the PR11.c to MPlab and build it.......found alot of error there?(show at pic build error)

hi,

u can use PIC16F876 instead of 877. but cant simply burn 877 firmware, .HEx into 876. the error is probably because u didnt properly setup the mplab. the program uses hitech C compiler. u will need to setup that. else it wont compile correctly. u can see the error of pic.h not found. pic.h, __config things. show that the program is using hitech c.

Yup, like yonghui say... should be no issue to replace a smaller PIC with a bigger PIC

Anyway, just remember to follow the pin correctly. As for your prototype...... is a bit hard for us to see whether there is wrong connection. Why not try the basic function? LED blinking maybe? LCD has 14 wires to connects.... very messy.

It seem you didn't install HI-TECH Compiler

Did you go through the document in detail? Because in Details Description, there is a getting started guides which show user how to compile the sample source code. And there are extra documents under PR11 product page, the "Installation of MPLAB and Hi-Tech C PRO " show you how to install MPLAB IDE with HI-TECH compiler; another document: "MPLAB Open Project_16F" show you how to create project and further compile it.

Since you did not install HI-TECH Compiler, I would advise you to uninstall MPLAB IDE and reinstall it accordingly which will at the end ask you to install HI-TECH compiler. Good luck :D

:D

cant see clearly.

did u pull up master clear with resistor?
can ur setup, running a program to do LED blinking? try LED blinking program to check the correct setup of PIC and config of PIC and functionality of output ports. checking the output port to LCD by blink LED, to make sure the output port is configured properly.
ur LCD is showing black boxed :O
