Maybe this is use C18 compiler, you use Hi-Tech compiler.

I think you need to check the code you trying to compile. If you are compiling code for PIC18, you should use C Compiler for 18F. HI-TECH have several type of compiler, and most of the projects by Cytron (assuming you are referring to their projects) is using HI-TECH for Mid-Range PIC, which support PIC10/12/16. If you are compiling code for PIC16F, it should work accordingly. If you are compiling code for PIC18, it cannot work!

And there are more to know about compiler  So what PIC are you plan to compile the code for?

The sample code from Cytron for PIC18 use compiler C18. So, if you want compile that, must use C18.

In Hi-Tech PIC18 no file p18f4550.h, but use pic18.h. For Hi-Tech PIC18 see this example.

That example is for MPLAB C18.

What you are compiling now with it is a Hi-Tech C compiler. If you need to compile that program, you can download the MPLAB C18 from the Microchip's official website.
PIC - UIC00B from Cytron (replacement for my broken PICKit 2), Pickit 3, MikroC for PIC
dsPIC - MikroC for dsPIC, mikromedia board (dsPIC33)
AVR - AVR Dragon
Parallax - Prop tool

Yes, the USB Bootloader for SK40C is being compiled under MPLAB C18 C Compiler.
