Which PIC is suitable for my project?

Postby yasotha padmanathan » Mon Oct 17, 2011 10:09 am

Good day, Im currently going to start my finla year project. My project title is Multi-entrances security door system. Basically im doing for 2 doors. 1 door using RFID, where user need a card and need to touch the RFID reader in order to unlock the door. Another door will be using keypad where user need to key in the password to unlock the door. All the information such as user id, date and time are stored in central office. The communication between the entrance point and the central office is using Zigbee wireless technology. I wanted to ask which PIC is suitable for my project?? any suggestion?

Hm...basically any PIC is suitable for you since it doesn't require any special feature. You can look for midrange 8-bit PIC, such as the commonly known 16F877A and other similar and cheaper models. You can search for the suitable one here.

You can find useful examples in Cytron's DIY projects, just browse through the two pages there.

hi,

to determine which pic is suitable for u, 1st u need to know what peripheral of the controller u need. uart? or just simple inout port. every pic has inout port, but not all has the uart, or other communication module, such as spi, pmp, i2c. which of them u need.

after u have the idea what u need, then u can seek for any pic that meets ur requirement. and its better to choose those are common if u need support. and u will need to determine which voltage level u are playing with, 3.3v or 5v.
