Fingerprint UART

Postby Marvin_G » Tue Dec 11, 2012 7:45 pm

Hello there,i bought a fingerprint reader and UC00B last week and the way i wanted to connect both this device is by using RF transmitter and RF receiver to make it wireless. Is that possible?

second is i'm using ARM processor TS-7940 to send command to the fingerprint reader UART and what do you think is the best software can be used? my ARM processor is running linux debian platform.

Please help me guys. Thank you

The low cost RF transmitter and receiver? You better check what is the baud rate of the Fingerprint device you are using. You should also check the tutorial by Cytron http://tutorial.cytron.com.my/2012/04/05/low-cost-wireless-uart/

Din check the details as I am using this RF module, I uses XBee more  ; but don think it can offers a good signal and the speed.

Not familiar with ARM and Linux, sorry cannot help. You want to be easy? You should try Arduino DUE, ARM base too 8-)

Low cost RF module not suitable because it's only use baudrate 1200 and need continuous transmit. Better change to XBee, use baudrate 9600 and can send data sometimes ex every 1s.

The baudrate was 9600..is that ok?

yes it's a low cost RF module but it has 9600 baudrate. So i think it would be better. Am i right?

:?: :?: Shahrul is suggesting other solution than using RF module, instead, uses XBee. The low cost RF can only offer very low baudrate, down to 1200 bps and you need to send continuously. What do you mean by RF module but it has 9600 baudrate?

Personally, I don think the RF module with that price can offer good signaling and secure transmission. It is not designed for such a purpose.

I was fail using low cost rf module 3 years ago before I get to know the solution.
Rf module will fail with baudrate 9600.

I'm not sure if it is good or not because i haven't tried it before, but anyway, after i'll test first and let u guys know asap. Thanks for the advice. ^^
