In order to give recognition to these superb members among us, we have implemented the Member Ranking System. The ranks are earned by posting and replying on the forum. That means the more you post/reply, the higher rank you get. We understand that posting count doesn't necessarily reflect a person's actual amount/level of contribution, but frankly, that's the least we can do at the moment. Perhaps we can revise this ranking system whenever we find a better solution. Till then, let's stay with this one k?
Figure below shows the rank image, rank title and minimum post. These are the current ranks we'll be using, but we may modify the list from time to time if we find it necessary. As for the title of each rank, please forgive us if it offends you. After all, it's just for fun isn't it?
Since most of us are ITechies, engineers or engineers-to-be &
, we do a lot of calculation revolving binary '1' and '0'. Hence we have decided on using the power-of-2 as the number for each rank's minimum post. Eg: 2 ^ 0 = 1, 2 ^ 1 = 2, 2 ^ 2 = 4, ..., 2 ^ 11 = 2048 and 2 ^ 12 = 4096. So you will observe that the gab between two ranks is very close at the beginning and increases exponentially when the ranks go higher.* One important thing to note here though, is that we do NOT look kindly upon those members who repeatedly post various "non-contributing" messages or replies in an obvious attempt to boost their ranking. We reserve the right to modify a forum member's posting count, if he/she is caught in repeated attempts of such a dishonourable form of posting behaviour
