Arduino 2A motor shield

Postby Ryu » Mon Apr 30, 2012 2:45 pm

hi, i'm curious about the '2A' meaning. My DC geared motor's stall current is 2.8 ampere. If it suddenly shoot up to this value (2.8A), is it this 2A motor shield enough to sustain the stall current ? or the motor shield will limit the 2.8A to 2A ? last question, can anyone tell me the exactly function of motor shield ?

hi ryu, this shield can be used to control 2 dc motors with 2Amp max current each way, plus PWM speed control....if ur motor running amp shootup until 2.8Amp....better u switch to hi-er spec...or build one...! and consider motor starting current as well..! have fun...!

You can still use this shield, but use both channels for single motor and control both channels to be same status. If you have further inquiry, please discuss in our technical forum as this section is for short inquiry, thanks :)

Above is the answer i get from cytron.. can anybody tell me the meaning of "use both channel for single motor and control bot channel to be same status" ?

this is an alternative since you already bought the shield....2 Amp per channel, if u using both of them in parallel, u got double in capacity but for just 1 motor...

erm...do u mean one lead of the DC geared motor is connected to the motor shield's motor1 (M1+) and also motor2( M2+), and do the same way the other lead of the DC geared motor is connected to the motor shield's motor1(M1-) and motor2 (M2-) ???

yes...but, the same flag must fires the both controll bit....foward, reverse and PWM must synchro for both channel...
