Sensor Shield + Digital Infrared Sensor

Postby ghoul88 » Thu Mar 14, 2013 10:53 pm

Hello all,,

i'm followed this tutorial to build digital infrared sensor
http://www.cytron.com.my/viewProduct.ph ... d%20Sensor

i'm planning to combine with the arduino
for me, there is two ways, either build our own PCB based on the tutorial
or, using the sensor shield

three main items i used as below:
1) sensor shield
2) digital infrared sensor (SN-E18-B03N1) - i also got other sensor, the one that can be adjustable
3) arduino UNO

however, i'm doubt and curious either i can directly connect the "digital Infrared sensor" to "sensor shield" or not?
since, based on the tutorial, we required 1k ohm, 10k ohm and PN 2222A between "arduino" and "digital infrared sensor"
moreover, cytron put feature in sensor shield as "plug and play", does it mean any sensor?
plus, 5V provided by sensor shield is enough for using with "digital infrared sensor"

if, yes, what other sensor can be used/attached at sensor shield?
if no, why no? then, what is the function for sensor shield? what the ONLY sensor can be used with sensor shield?

#sketch in text#
1) PCB
arduino <-----> PCB (1k ohm, 10k ohm, PN 2222A) <-----> digital infrared sensor

2) Sensor Shield
arduino <-----> Sensor Shield <-----> digital infrared sensor

Thank you,

I don think the shield is compatible for all sensor, there are thousands type of sensor. I donot have sensor shield myself, but I guess it is designed for commonly use sensor, digital and analog.

So if you think your sensor is not plug and play on it, do some interface.
