Hi, im planning to make a mobile robot which have the following characteristic:
2 motors - Tamiya twin motor gearbox (MO-TMY-70097)
1 servomotor - small robot gripper (RG02A)
3 Adjustable IR sensor switch (SN-E18-D80NK)
the robot basically can move around, avoid obstacles and pick up object

Question 1:
Which pins are actually used by the shield for motors and servos?
Question 2:
How do i connect them (motors and servo) altogether, do i need to ground them?
Question 3:
How do i use remaining pins (if any) for the IR sensor stated above? and again, how do i connect them? do i need to alter the port location on the shield? if yes, is it ok if i desoldering the connector pins on the shield and change it with other connector (e.g. male or female connector)

Are you from electronics background?

1st, learn how to use the microcontroller, do LED blinking, add sensor, then control motor, then add the gripper.

Do it from basic.

yes im currently pursue in mechatronics study, this is my first time working out with a shield and arduino microcontroller..
i already done some basic application like led blinking, using ldr, blinking etc.
the thing that im confused is that when i join the shield and the microcontroller (as stated above), the pins are closed/disabled by the shield.. i wonder if there is still available pins that is not used by the shield, or there are some pins i can use because the shield provide 4 motor usage, but i only want to use 2
any tips, recommendation and suggestion are gladly appreciated :)

Yup, the link to the product would help us identify the correct item.

You should check the User's Manual or Schematic to identify the pin uses.
