Rotational Speed Sensor/Tachometer

Postby yihchia » Mon Dec 29, 2014 1:47 pm

Hi everyone. I am definitely a newbie here, I am not an engineer though but I am learning to become one (cheers).
Anyway, I am looking for a thing which is a Rotational Speed Sensor/Monitor or Tachometer, and I would like to connect it to a Data Taker to log a series of data for a long period. I am using it for my research purpose (on a Turbine Ventilator), I want to test the rotational speed of the turbine in RPM and would like to log the data. Can anyone tell me how should I get started?
Please help me as I am really noob in this.
All your replies are appreciated. :)

Since you are new, you can try searching the Internet with Arduino + Tachometer or Speed sensor. Get to know which microcontroller platform to use first and understand the concept of sensor the speed, what type of sensor to use, etc.
