Software Development for Fire Fighting Robot

Hello guys..my project is about software development for Fire Fighting Robot but I really doesn't know which or what kind of software that is suitable. I also does not have any decision on what mode of IC that will be apply ( whether it is PIC or microprocessor ). Please give me an advice for me to begin this project. Thanks a lot guys.

Hi, I suggest if you want start programming project, it depends on resources on your college/uni/place.
If some of your friends or your lecturer use PIC, then you also do PIC, because it's faster for you to learn.
If your friends use Atmel or Arduino or any microcontroller/microprocessor, then follow them to use.

I said this because, all microcontroller have their strength and weakness, also different microcontroller can achieve same goal or project.
