Infrared remote control for PIC 18F circuits

Postby takao21203 » Sat Jul 21, 2012 6:36 am

I am currently working at software to use infrared remote controls for PIC circuits.
Recently I had this idea because it seems to be cheaper and easier than to add keys to circuits, or a keypad.
I also bought a much smaller remote control a few days ago.

The PICs I use here are 18f24j10.
Circuit one: 1.8" TFT LCD
Circuit two: 2x character LCDs

These are the codes I am getting right after inserting the battery. The remote control
also can output infrared data for many different protocols.

Here the data seems to be 6bit only, and it is repeating.

This is the 2x character LCD circuit, also showing the remote control.

I want to use the same source file for both projects!
Right now the infrared code only exists on the 1.8" TFT circuit.
And only the time between pulses is measured.
I still need to convert it to single bits.

It is not so easy because all protocols are different, remote controls as such are different,
and problems such as command repeat need to be solved as well.

I was thinking, I could require the command to be repeated a few times,
so the circuits won't respond from a single command.

But also for a LCD game I need very fast response.

Like the idea a lot, nice work! Interested to know the round black PIC board you are using, customized?

It is a TQFP44 adapter + 5 MHz resonator + 32 KHz crystal + 1uF cap + LED.

Nice project! I am interested to know the board highlighted by ober too. Where to get it? Or you build it yourself? It does not look like TQFP44 to me  Shouldn't it be 28-SOIC?

yes of course SOIC28. But I bought a bag with SOIC28 + TQFP44 together from the same seller.
They have both the same size and shape.

From ebay!

Also ordered this (20 pcs. TQFP44) http://www.ebay.com/itm/110907542911

And this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/150498646707 (SSOP20 adapter).
