it looks like what you are doing is an exhaust cutout. in the old days you would use a dash-mounted cable.

today, micro electronics, would be interesting project.

i would use manifold pressure from the engine compartment to operate a vacuum motor.

enough cheap components around that you could use a pressure sensor, pic controller, and a stepper motor for a diy project.

do a google search on electric exhaust cutout.
