Hello,

What type of power supply needed to drive 16 servos simultaneously using SC16A and how much current is enough to drive all 16 servos?

Hope you can answer this as soon as possible.

Thank You.

Without any data, it is very hard to recommend a suitable power supply for your 16 servos.

1. What is the rated voltage and current to operate each servo ?
2. Are all the 16 servo having the same rating?
3. Can you accept fixed or portable DC power supply?

If the total current consumption is more then 5A, I will recommend to split the servo into 2 or 3 groups of 8 or 5 motors. That will be easier to manage.

Did you take a look at the laptop PSU? They are quite heavy duty and output is around 18V DC. Just drop it down to the voltages you want, using 78Mxx regulator together with a power transistor, in 2 or 3 groups (1 for your mcu). That should satisfy your motors' requirement.

Another cheap solution is the ATX PSU for PC. They have very high +5V capacity on current and quite high on the +12V as well.

How long do you wish to use? Fixed or portable battery? If portable, can you accept heavy battery? The current used is depending on your servo types and the torque that you use in your project. More torque, consume more current.

Hello,

Specification of 10 servos:
* Working Voltage: 4.8-7.2V
* Working current: 0.1-1.2 A
* Torque: 10kg-cm @ 4.8V ; 13kg-cm @6V ; 15kg-cm @7.2V

For this type of servo I used 6V to generate 13kg-cm of torque.

---

The remain 6 servos are from cytron, C40R. The voltage used is 6V. No rated current provided from the manual guide.

---

I use portable LiPo DC power supply (12V 2200mAH) which is a quite light battery.

Some say use 2 paralleled 7.4V LiPo 2200mAH. Is it works?

---

Thank You.

You can use the battery, but not directly because the voltage is over the operating voltage for servo you are using, you need to find a way regulate the voltage to 6V maybe yet the current can be around 10A to support that many servo. I think Cytron have one of their DIY project designed for biped robot using many servo too, try browsing their DIY project, you might be able to get some idea.
