Direction/speed control of MDS40B in Analog mode

Postby h00die » Mon Aug 30, 2021 11:58 pm

Hi - considering using this controller for a project, and I'm not 100% clear how to control speed and direction of a single DC brushed motor when in analog mode. I have read the manual, but it's still not clear to me.

I would like to control a large, brushed 12v DC motor using external hard-wired switches to go forward and reverse (can be sink-to-ground or +12v [preferred]). The speed can be set with a trim-pot local to the controller and left alone, as the speed does not need to be controlled once the optimal PWM drive current has been identified.

Can you give a simple example please?

Thx!

You can start with DIP switch setting = 0100 0111 (Analog Sign Magnitude mode).
The potentiometer should be connected to 5V and GND and connect its output to IN1 of the motor driver.
The switch should be connected between IN2 and GND.

Thanks.

Ok, I will try that and let you know.

What do the Fan Input pins do (marked D in the pcb diagram in the user manual)?

The fan connector is for you to connect to an optional cooling fan.
