The ICD3 works fine with the PICDEM2 Plus Board that i have bought, but not for SK40C.
i wonder if the use of original RJ-11 cable from Microchip is needed because i use the original cable provide from ICD3 to communicate with PICDEM2 Plus board.
If i power the target board from ICD3, on SK40C (power adapter is plugged in) the error from MPLAB is Device ID not match, however on PICDEM2 Plus Board(no power adapter plug in) it work fine.

Hi, i have check all the ICSP connection needed and there are correct.
I try change the programmer from ICD3 to UIC00A from cytron and it works. The PICDEM 2 Plus board and SK40C can be program using UIC00A.
But afterwards i disconnect the UIC00A and switch back to ICD3 and wish to program my PICDEM 2 Plus board (which can be program early), now i found that it cannot be program anymore. It turns to be the ICD3 cannot detect the target device. The same error occur as i facing when i wish to program cytron board using ICD3.
Anyone had been using UIC00A and ICD3 in the same time to program same PIC? They works fine together? Mine one seem like not working fine. :?
Any configuration bit to change from software/hardware?

It should be able to be program using both. Did you use the self test for the ICD3 and see if its ok? :)

It is not ok right now after i program the board with UIC00A.
The self test could not be completed anymore, but previously it tested ok (before program with UIC00A)
"It should be able to be program using both"
I think so in logically. Anybody tested and confirm with both?

Can you pose up a printscreen of the error during self test?

Should work, because basically both are using ICSP method only. Yet, I don have ICD3 because is way expensive, UIC00B I have several :D

The self test i meant was using ICD3 and connect it to PIC16F module provided with the ICD3. I hope i didnt mixed things up.

Hi, the self test here mean i test ICD3 with the IC3 Self Test Interface Module Board. It is a small red PCB board with an IC on it.
This is the error i get:
2.jpg

Before using UIC000A to program, it was tested ok.
And also i have the PICDEM 2 Plus board with me, when connect with ICD3, i get the following error:
1.jpg

This board also tested functional with ICD3 before i program it with UIC00A.

*My initial problem was i have bought the SK40C and also PICDEM 2 Plus board, but i cant program the SK40C with ICD3 but PICDEM2 Plus can. So i borrow UIC00A from friend and try to program the SK40C and it works. And i also try connect UIC00A with PICDEM2 Plus Board, and it works also. However when i connect back the ICD3 with PICDEM2 Plus board, it wont works anymore and i get the above error in MPLAB. :(

My guess on this error is that you did not provide power to the PICDEM2 board? Either using the adapter or battery
