hi,

if u have the led blinking working without plugging in uic00b then the lcd shud work without plugging in the uic00b also.

just in case u forget to adjust the contrast of LCD using the small preset on board. try to adjust. see if there is any contrast change on lcd display.

That is difficult to explain or troubleshoot. Did you check all the connections whether there is any one that's not soldered or connected properly? The UIC00B uses only RB6, RB7, MCLR from your PIC. What are the components connected to these pins?
