DC motor driver

Postby tschua » Fri May 21, 2010 6:07 pm

Hey, i am currently constructing a brush motor driver using 2 relay and 1 MOSFET. My problems is the MOSFET is getting HOT very fast and always burn. Is there any solution? I am using IRFZ44N. I saw cytron's product MD10B (Enhanced 10 Amp DC Motor Driver), the MOSFET doesn't attach heat sink. I wonder would it get HOT? Further more, the 4 diodes (1N4007)for EMF would effect the MOSFET? Schottky diode should be used in this case. How much current for your motor? If less than 1A, 1N5818 or 1N5819 is recommended. If less than 3A, IN5822 should be used. Mosfet should be fully ON (Vgs > 8V but max Vgs is 20V for IRFZ44N) to reduce the heat. Schematic which shown below is recommended.

PWM inverse proportional to speed

Postby tschua » Sat May 29, 2010 5:59 pm

I had tried the connection. The speed of motor become inverse proportional to the PWM.
PWM 100%, motor stop; PWM 0%, motor full speed.
Then I tried this connection, but the Gate signal is not very good.

In case I don't want to change my programming, is there any other methods to drive MOSFET?

I don think that is correct way to drive a NPN BJT transistor......

sure....the motor was overloaded...or....undersized mosfet.....i slighly dont agree with the a380 circuit...
