Postby leen » Tue Aug 17, 2010 10:30 am

Hi,

i nid to do my final year project, using labview to control a stepper motor. I had the NI-usb6008 USB port. Can i straight away buy a stepper motor driver and stepper motor and connect to it ?Wat else is needed to drive the stepper motor?

Never use it. I guess NI-usb6008 should be giving you digital i/o and analog input ports to the computer. For stepper driver, normally it need few digital input to enable the coils, control run/brake, cw/ccw and some other control lines. Besides, to step the motor, you need to provide pulses to the driver and the frequency of pulses is the stepping frequency. So if NI-usb6008 can give pulses at desired frequency, there should have no problem to control a stepper driver and motor.
