Can I use 2 MD10C instead of 1 MD22 motor driver

Postby anwartota9 » Mon Nov 28, 2011 9:12 am

Hi all,

I am working on a project and I am trying to control two 24V-5A motors using Ardinuo Uno
I found that can be done by using (MD22) Dual 24V 5A Motor Driver as described below
http://www.robot-electronics.co.uk/htm/ ... s.htm#MD22 Dual 50V 5A Motor Driver

However, the price of MD22 is high and I must order it from UK (I live in Malaysia)

so when I asked in Cytron facebook page about any alternatives, someone told me that I can use Two of the enhanced 10 amp dc motor driver (MD10C).
I am wondering if I can do that because I am confused that MD22 is 5A and MD10C is 10A. Moreover, how do I make the connection from the battery to both MD10C because I use one battery and 2 motor drivers. Do I connect both of them to the battery like in parallel or there is extra circuit needs to be done.

Best wishes

you can connect the battery to two drivers without any extra circuit. MD10C motor driver can supply up to 25V 10A (15A max, for 10 sec). So that means the voltage and current output depends on the power supply/battery by changing to PWR mode. While the VIN mode, you only need to supply 12V and it can be calibrated to supply 3V-25V to the motor (ask Cytron more about this), but the current may decrease as the voltage increases (>12V). Hope this helps.

Since your motor is rated at 5A while MC10C can drive up to 10A continuously, definitely you can use this driver because it can supply more than the motor needs.

Yes, you just connect the battery to both MC10C in parallel.
