Motor selection, help!

Postby Xeriex » Tue Jan 01, 2013 3:07 am

Hello and happy 2013,

I would like to know what kind/type of motor that functions in a way that you could control the degree of rotation and lock it's position. Can it be just the DC motor itself controlled by some sort of PIC with worm gear? I'm open for any suggestion but please don't suggest Arduino. I just started my electronics course so I thought of making something that consist of such component.

That is aplication for Stepper Motor. You can control with any microcontroller.

Thank you for your prompt reply, shahrul

Anyways do you know what kind of microcontroller that can control two motors separately, as well as making the motor rotate cw and ccw?

Any microcontroller can control 2 motors seperately if it have enough output.
Example
1. Stepper Motor
2. Stepper Motor Driver
