What if not connecting to MD10C...

Postby jkcha » Wed Apr 03, 2013 5:09 pm

Hi,
I bought a Linear actuator and direct power up with power supply 24VDC, 2.1A (S-50-24, Meanwell brand). It just works without connecting through the Motor Driver MD10C. Would it burn the DC motor for heavy usage, if direct power up? Just curious that what is the advantages of using the Motor Driver MD10C?
My application is just extracting and retracting, with two limit switches, no microcontroller used, all hard wiring with push buttons and selector switches.
Hope someone could help to explain.

You can connect the motor directly from the power.

The driver is to allow microcontroller or small signal to control the motor. If you don need it, ignore it :)

Hi, robosang
Thank you for your reply.
My concern is the initial starting torque from the motor, which require to pull more Amp from the power source.
Will it spoil the power supply eventually? Or maybe I need to check the feature of my Meanwell power supply.
