Use MD30C with 5k Throttle Pot?

Hello - I want to substitute your MD30C for an obsolete DC motor controller. The existing controller is using a sealed 5k throttle pot that cannot be altered without replacement. Is there a way I can use my existing 5k pot in lieu of your specified 10k pot? Thank you!

unfortunately, no. You will most likely burn some of the IC on MD30C if you use 5K POT.

Thank you. Can a 10K digital pot be used to control the MD30C?

What type of digital pot? Mind sharing the spec of the pot?

I have not selected the digital pot yet. I was curious to know if you were aware of any limitations that would prevent using a digital pot. I will be receiving a digital pot this week. I will let you know which one and specifications.

We do not consider digital pot because the purpose of external pot is for manual operation without additional controller. In case of digital pot, you will most likely need another controller to configure the digital pot and select the resistance (if I am correct and stand to be corrected), so will recommend to use PWM and DIR for control instead of digital pot since the controller is there.
