MD10C heating up in minutes after powering it up.
Posted: Thu Apr 13, 2023 11:09 amYesterday I bought a Cytron MD10C to connect it to a DC pump (24V, approximately 1 A) with an adapter supplying the board 24V 2.5 A. I left the MD10C on for a few minutes with and hardly tured on the motor. The driver quickly heated up even though it was idle and pump was not pulling any current.
I want the board to run for a couple of hours at a stretch. Im now thinking of adding a relay that will turn on the driver only when I want to power on the motor. But is this expected behaviour? I was under the impression that the board shouldnt heatup, especially considering Im supplying it a fraction of the ampere it is rated to handle?
