Designing Switching Regulator

Postby HaPPy_BoY » Fri Nov 19, 2010 10:28 am

Hi. I designed a circuit for switching regulator, intending to step-down the voltage and also provide adequate current to the SC16A servo controller with 10 servo motors ( 5x c40r and 5x c55r/s). I'm using a LiPo 11.1V 2200mAh as my power source and IRF510 mosfet as the switch for real-life application.

In simulation, my source is 11.1V and switch is a IRF450, and my circuit is able to step-down the voltage to around 6.965V but i don't really know how to measure the current.

I would like advices on how to improve the circuit (what suitable components to use) so that it could provide enough current and at the same time protect the LiPo battery from massive current drawn out. My objective is to increase the effectiveness of power handling so that the LiPo can last longer in a single charge.
