Resistor 0.25W 5% (120R) and Resistor 0.5W 5% (120R), the watt of this 2 resistors are difference. What is the main purpose to have different values of watt of the resistor? Are they really important?

larger watt resistor means that it can run larger current without burning it.
p=(I^2)*R
for the same R if the P is higher, means that the resistor can handle larger current.
