Fire Fighting Robot

Dear all,
I'm doing a fire fighting robot for my diploma final year project. May I know which sensors that I can use beside the flame detection module that available?
Can a distance sensor sense the distance of a fire?

Never use a distance sensor to get the distance from fire. Normally it is used to sense the solid obstacle.
