Current Sensor for 12V DC

Postby Ken2 » Wed Mar 13, 2013 12:57 pm

Hi, i am planning to supply 12V DC to the load and the measure the current. The max supply current will be around 2.5A. I could not find current sensor IC that could sustain 12V dc supply in Cytron. Any suggestions?

You are joking right?

I am using 50A current sensor from Cytron to measure motor current 8-)

But you do not need 50A, you can get the 5A current sensor.

Oh thx for replying. i thought the IP+ and IP- have to supply 5V same as the Vcc (5V) . So, that means 12V is not an issue thx. By the way, i want to use ADC to measure the current. May i know how to convert? I am planning to use 10bit. I know the way to convert use 5V to ADC. For example, ref voltage is 5V, ADC input value is 205. So, 205/(1024/5V) = 1V. If is current how will it be (formula)? My supply voltage is 12V and current is 2.5A, it is connected series with the current sensor and series with the load.

You should check the datasheet of the sensor, I am sure it will provide the relationship between voltage and current.
