rotary encoder

i have bought Rotary Encoder C/W Coupling (500 PPR) 3806-500B-5-24F, can u show how to calculate the speed(also how to read encoder in the programming) so that the speed can print in the serial monitor.. I'm using arduino mega 2560. i hope u understand my question.. tq...

I always use External Interrupt to read the pulse and Timer Interrupt to calculate time. Then, from no of pulse in certain period of time, can calculate RPM.

I have bought a rotary encoder kit, proudct RE08A, i want to know the wire connection given, is there have differentiate the wire which connect to 5V source, and which connect to signal?

user manual does not give any information of the wire connection, but nvm, i get work it ad
