What kind of sensor to use ?

Postby lts2692 » Wed Jun 12, 2013 12:54 am

Hi guys, i've assigned to build a sensor device that could detect the obstacles as the signal getting weaker when it meets obstacles. Other than that it may differentiate the density/thickness of obstacles.

What kind of appropriate sensor should i use ? IR / RF transmitter / ultrasonic sensor / etc.
Please advice. Thanks

You must think logic. RF is tranmit/receive data, can't measure object distance. IR can measure distance, but maybe to short distance and only provide HIGH/LOW output. Ultrasonic can measures distance but can't know thickness. For thickness maybe need a camera.
