Also out of curiosity, if I put a resistor at the output or input of the sensor, will it affect the reading?

Are the sensors weather resistant?

If I mount the HC-SR04 outdoors so that the grills on the transducer and receiver face horizontally (i.e. 90 degrees from facing straight up), and seal everything except the grills, will the sensors be ok when it rains?

darkconvoy WROTE:Can't I use an ultrasonic or infrared to do so?

Can't you just try it?

Can you be sure the rain will not some how leak into the sensor? Why don you try it?
