In what mode the cytron lsa08 gives more efficient line following and how can optocouplers can be used with cytron motor drivers

It depends on what you need, LSA08 have the capability to send raw sensor reading and also processed sensor reading.
If you would like to process the sensor reading with your own algorithm, it might be more effective, but you will need to develop the algorithm and test it.

I think you can just google how to use Opto-coupler to isolate the gnd, apply it on the motor driver.
