PSC28A with the Velleman K8046

Postby shaneb24 » Sun Apr 15, 2012 12:23 am

Hello all, I'm trying to connect the PSC28A with the Velleman K8023. I'm having some trouble i can not find any good information on line and i don't want to bake eather unit. if any one has done this or knows how please help.

Thank-You for your time

Dont think you can do that. The K8046 is an input device which converts touch screen buttons to 8 outputs to drive relays or lamps. The inputs are programmable in the sense that the keys are user definable.

The PSC28A is also an input device that accepts input from a PS2 joystick and it has (24??) controllable outputs. There are already a few boards that were designed to interwork with K8046. I am not sure what are you trying to achieve by connecting K8046 to PSC28A?

The answer is still negative. The K8023 cames as a pair: the sender and the receiver. The schematics are included in the PDF manual but not the program codes. There is no way to know what signal format they're using to control the 10 relays. If you want to use the sender part to interface to PSC28A, can the PSC28A be able to interpret the signal from the K8023S?

yes that is what i want. in steps I'm trying to go from ps2 controller then PSC28A then K8023S then K8023S then relays.

so the interfacing between the PSC28A then K8023S is where I'm have trouble.

so the interfacing between the PSC28A then K8023S is where I'm have trouble.

So you'll be using this K8023 in pair and connect the control section to PSC28A?

In K8023 datasheet page 17, the schematic diagram for control section shows that all Input 1 to 10 is pulled-up. So they are active-low. In PSC28A datasheet page 8, it says that "There are 22 digital output terminals on PSC28A which can be activated by buttons and joystick direction. All these digital outputs are active low open collector output. User may connect it with output device like LED, buzzer, relay, motor or many more."

So I think you can connect PSC28A outputs to K8023 control section inputs with 220 ohm resistors in series.

i got it to work but what really confused me was that the PSC28A outputs to K8023 did not share a common ground
