The MCLR pin need to be connected to VDD through 10k to prevent the PIC from reseting. You shouldnt have bought the kit if you are that lazy. Connect VDD GND PGC and PGD to the programmer and leave it. When you want to reprogram just click reprogram. Doesnt that sounds easier and lazier

. Beware not to power it from the usb and also your external power at the same time if you do this.
