Dear Hairil,

Real situation of IoT needed ... I have a problem with my home kitchen twin door fridge is often open and leave open by my elderly mom and forgets to close the doors resulting in fridge item melted and spoiled.

Is there a way to put a reed switch sensor, one unit at the top and the other unit at the bottom fridge door via IoT automation alert notification?

Then trigger a buzzer sound alarm indicating an event has triggered after the door is leave open for more than two minutes? If fridge door closed within two minutes counter will reset back to normal state else sound alarm until fridge door is both closed.

Please advise?

Thanks.

Hi Rodney,

I understand your situation. So, these are my suggestions that maybe you can try out to solve the problems.

If you want to apply IoT in this situation, you can try following this tutorial on Youtube.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_kxWFEc24eM

If you prefer to use a buzzer (which will not use any wireless connectivity), you can try following our tutorial using Magnetic Sensor with Maker Uno (built-in buzzer).

Hope that it can help you solve the problems.

Dear Hairil,

Yes, it does resolves my problem, but I am viewing from being IoT automation via V-ONE platform instead as that was the purposes of this IoT Development kit.

But never mind if that does not include into your existing Cytron.io IoT Kit course product development plans as it takes many level of management approval for any product enhancement.

I will attempt to do the reed switch sensor build on my if possible and share with the community if anyone is interested to adopt later on their own as this features are bare essential for any IoT sensor needs and requirements for any Makers desires in Home Automation needs.

If V-ONE Free account does not allow an expansion of a simple Reed Switch Sensor add on function then I will need to look into alternative like ESPHome @ Home Assistant ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IvI1RqYPO24

Thank you.

Hi Rodney,

Yes, you can use the reed switch sensor with the V-ONE platform. Actually, the concept of reed switch sensor is pretty similar to the push button. So you can just the same settings to setup the reed sensor and add a "new device type" in the V-ONE.

For the code, you can just modify a little bit of the code for Push Button that is also included in the library.

Many thanks, will revert back the final outcome of the implementation shortly. Thanks alot ;)
