PIC + LCD 2x16..

Postby syntium87 » Wed May 18, 2011 12:14 pm

i've started to learn about the pic which being interfaced with LCD dsply..]

i've follow all steps to solder n check every pin of the LCD..n then learn the program n even try the simplest program for the LCD..using mplab anything that i copy from the PR3 source code n several others program from other website..compile n everything is succesful..

but then..when after put the LCD together with the PIC and its interface crct...turn ON n the LED just blinking..power on and off..n I can only see not very clear black bar on the 2nd line..the 1st line shows nothing except the LCD disply blink over n over again..

help me on this plz..how to solve it..?

Do you have a picture of the LCD and the circuit diagram?

Have you checked the connections between the microcontroller and the LCD? On times it may be a loose connection.

Do you have a link to his project, and did you connect your circuit to a battery? Operating the circuit with HD44780 LCDs with low battery could cause the display to be absent or garbled.

Plug it on an AC Adapter, like 6V ones. Make sure you have the 7805 voltage regulator before connecting it to the AC adapter.

By the way, you bought the LCD from Cytron too? On some other brands I had to add some more delays in the initializing section.
